I recently accepted a job offer for a job listed as Email Marketing Specialist. I wouldn’t have been able to get the job without your courses and the accountability meetings. I had been a Coding Phase member for years now and worked through many courses but I never applied since I was not confident in my skills for many years. I started interviewing more these past months and finally started to be more confident in interviews.
If I had believed in myself a bit more I feel I could have landed a job sooner but at least I have a job now. I will be starting next week! Your livestreams always helped give me motivation to keep learning and applying.
This job is for email marketing and tech support since they set up the email forms and connect it all to the email marketing platforms, do email automation, and also randomly help troubleshoot issues that arise in their clients’ Wordpress sites.
I feel like the content editor course, the email development courses were a huge help and even though this job doesn’t involve coding emails. They were impressed with my projects on my portfolio since coding will be needed for troubleshooting.
My advice for those interviewing is to check out the job posting. If you spot something you don't have experience with, don't hesitate to ask about it and find out what they're looking for. Then after the interview, let them know about the extra steps you've taken to show your motivation and willingness to learn. Actions really do speak louder than words.
For my last interview, I sensed they had scheduled another round because they were likely undecided between candidates. So, I thought to myself “What would show the employer that I am a better fit for this position than the other candidate?”
In previous interviews with this company I had asked what was the most common email platform their clients used, so I checked it out and took the “academy” certificate courses for it. After finishing two certificates, I updated my resume and sent it to them, saying I completed it.
In that last interview they told me that I was up against another candidate and that this interview was to ask if I was willing to take those certificate courses but I had actually beat them to it cus I had completed them! They were really impressed with that.
I’m really excited to start and see what more I can learn from here. I still can’t believe I landed this job. I just wanted to write you this email to say thanks for everything you do and all your motivational livestreams. You are making a HUGE difference.
Gratefully,
Daisy Pineda
